Nearly 30 years ago, Kindly Craftsmen founder Dave Hanna bought the apartment building he had lived in as a child. After long days on the job as a police officer, he worked hard to restore that building and learned how to take something old and make it beautiful and functional once again.
For the next 15 years, he’d continue to hone his renovation skills on his own commercial and residential fixer uppers. And once his career in law enforcement was over, he went full time into remodeling homes through practical yet beautiful improvements for homeowners in Stanhope, NJ and the surrounding communities.
Since then, Dave has helped many families across northern NJ love their homes again. The process has been refined and partnerships with like-minded tradespeople have been formed to better serve homeowners, but the goal of transforming regular homes into something special for people in the area has never changed.
In 2023, Dave’s remodeling company became a true family business when he teamed up with his son D. J. and together they began working under the name Kindly Craftsmen.

We also carefully vet any subcontractors we partner with to ensure they are fully licensed in their respective trades and also carry their own insurance.
